Biography

A San Francisco native, Helen and her husband, Dennis have called Colma home since 1977.  They have two grown married children, Regina and Anthony and two granddaughters and three grandsons.  Helen earned a double Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and Human Resource Management from San Francisco State University and is a graduate of the Redwood City/San Mateo/Belmont/San Carlos Leadership Program.  After almost 40 years of service, Helen retired from Pacific Gas and Electric Company in February 2010.  Helen continues to keep busy as an active community volunteer.

An ardent community supporter, Helen has served on the Colma Town Council since 1994 and has the honor of being elected Mayor seven times.  Helen’s service has been recognized as an inductee into the San Mateo County Women’s Wall of Fame, two time recipient of the prestigious Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s Mielke Award for Outstanding Community Service, the Mercy High School Catherine’s Legacy Award, the Sitike Community Kindness Award, and the Colma-Daly City Chamber of Commerce Cypress Leadership Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Leadership Panelist Award.

As an energetic volunteer, Helen has served on multiple committees that support many causes including Seton Medical Center’s New Life Clinic, Breast Health Care Center and Charity Care as well as the Colma Historical Association, the North Peninsula Food Pantry and Dining Center, Daly City Public Library Associates, San Mateo Peninsula Italian American Social Club Fundraising Committee.

Council Committee Assignments

Representing the Town of Colma on Citywide and Regional committees is one of the duties of a Council Member.  The following are committees that Helen serves on as a member or alternate:
