Crimes Investigated

Throughout November, the Colma Police Department (CPD) responded to 440 calls for service and generated 130 police reports, resulting in 67 arrests as part of the department’s continued commitment to public safety. Officers also issued 268 citations and conducted 172 traffic stops to promote safe driving and reduce roadway hazards. CPD remained proactive into December. During the first three weeks of the month, officers generated 81 police reports, made 44 arrests, issued 90 citations, conducted 82 traffic stops, and initiated 905 officer-initiated incidents, demonstrating continued visibility and engagement within the community.

On November 19, 2025, officers from the CPD were dispatched to the Ross store regarding a detained employee suspected of embezzlement. Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect was Suny Vang, a 26-year-old Pacifica resident and current Ross employee. The investigation determined that between October 23, 2025, and November 18, 2025, Vang used his position as a supervisor to conduct return fraud and price switching involving Ross merchandise. These actions resulted in an estimated loss of $2,684.28. Vang was taken into custody and transported to the county jail, where he was booked on charges of embezzlement.

From December 1 through December 8, CPD officers remained proactive in providing excellent service to the community. During this time, officers responded to 148 calls for service and conducted 405 officer-initiated incidents, demonstrating strong visibility and engagement throughout the community. As a result of these efforts, CPD generated 43 case reports, issued 48 citations, and made 21 arrests, all in support of maintaining public safety.

On December 3, 2025, officers from the CPD responded to a report of theft at Kohl’s. Loss prevention reported that Joel Farias, a 45-year-old San Francisco resident, had stolen a vacuum valued at $329.61 and fled the scene on an electric scooter northbound on El Camino Real. CPD officers conducted an area check and located Farias near the Colma BART station. Upon contact, Farias attempted to conceal the stolen merchandise but was positively identified by Kohl’s loss prevention. Further investigation revealed that Farias was a suspect in two prior thefts at Kohl’s on separate dates, with total stolen merchandise valued at approximately $1,743.51. Farias was taken into custody and transported to the county jail, where he was booked on charges of commercial burglary, grand theft, possession of a switchblade knife, and outstanding warrants.

From December 9 through December 18, 2025, CPD demonstrated its ongoing commitment to community safety through a combination of proactive enforcement and responsive service. CPD officers generated 444 officer-initiated incidents, 38 reports were generated and 23 arrest were made.

On December 10, 2025, CPD officers responded to a report of an intoxicated individual at the CarMax location regarding a vehicle appraisal. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Simon Kumar, a 46-year-old resident of San Bruno, who exhibited clear signs of impairment from alcohol. Further investigation revealed that Kumar had driven his vehicle into the CarMax lot and was unable to respond coherently to staff inquiries. After conducting a series of field sobriety tests, officers attempted to place Kumar in handcuffs. He resisted arrest, resulting in a brief struggle during which he fell to the ground. Officers were able to overcome his resistance and successfully take him into custody. Kumar was transported to the county jail and booked on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and resisting arrest. His vehicle was subsequently towed.
