Crimes Investigated

Vehicle Burglary

During the month of January, there were three (3) reports of vehicle burglaries.  As always, please ensure that you lock your vehicle doors and hide your valuables from sight so you don’t accidentally encourage a would-be thief to break into your vehicle.

Thefts

During the month of January, the Colma Police Department received thirty-three (33) reports of theft related crimes and made sixteen (16) arrests ranging from petty theft, grand theft, shoplifting, identity theft and burglary.

Stolen Vehicle

During the month of January one (1) vehicle was reported stolen and two (2) stolen vehicles were recovered.

Alcohol/Drugs

During the month of January, patrol officers made a total of thirty-one (31) arrests for drug and alcohol related charges, which included seven (7) arrests for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Commercial Burglary/Stolen Vehicle Recovery

A Colma Police Sergeant, while patrolling the 400 block of Collins Avenue on 12/31/18 arrested a male subject who had just burglarized a commercial building/yard in the area.  The male admitted to the crime and was booked into the county jail.  Further investigation revealed that the suspect was also in possession of a stolen vehicle out of Pacifica that was parked on Collins Ave.  The vehicle had not been reported stolen to Pacifica PD until 01/01/19.

On 01/01/19, the same Sergeant located the vehicle near where he had made the arrest the prior day.  Property belonging to the arrested suspect was located inside the stolen vehicle.  Additional criminal charges were sent to the District Attorney for prosecution on the arrested male.

Robbery

On 01/14/19, a robbery occurred on the 1200 block of El Camino Real.  Colma Police Officers responded to a report of a theft that had just taken place where the suspect had pulled out a knife and threatened a person attempting to stop the theft.  Colma Police Officers located the male suspect on the 500 block of Serramonte Blvd. and arrested him without any harm to those involved.  The knife was recovered on the ground several feet from where the suspect was arrested.  He was booked into San Mateo County Jail on a felony charge.

Identity Theft/Stolen Vehicle

On 01/14/19, Colma Police Officers responded to the 400 block of Serramonte Boulevard on a report of a fraudulently purchased vehicle.  The victim’s personal information was stolen in Manteca and used via the internet to purchase a vehicle in Colma.  Further investigation by Colma Detectives has revealed several suspects from the Central Valley and Oregon areas.  One of the suspects has been arrested in Oregon and the vehicle has been recovered.  The case is still an on-going investigation.

County-Wide Efforts

Officer Guerrero participated in the San Mateo County Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) detail.

Officer Mendoza participated in the San Mateo County Gang Task Force one-week deployment.
