Crimes Investigated

Vehicle Burglary

During the month of June, there were two (2) reports of vehicles being burglarized within the shopping center parking lots.

Stolen Vehicle

During the month of June, one vehicle was reported stolen.

Alcohol/Drugs

During the month of June, patrol officers made a total of thirty (30) arrests for drug and alcohol related charges, which included three (3) arrests for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Robbery

On 6/12/17 at approximately 1516 hours, Colma Police responded to the 5000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard to the report of a robbery that had just occurred. When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with the victims. Officers determined that a suspect concealed store merchandise and was attempting to exit without paying for the merchandise when the victims, loss prevention officers, attempted to make an apprehension. When they attempted to apprehend the suspect, she brandished pepper spray and threatened to spray the victims. The suspect was then able to flee and remains at large.

Storage Locker Burglaries

On 6/17/17 at approximately 1115 hours, Colma Police responded to the 3600 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard to the report of a burglary of a storage locker. The officer made contact with the victim and witness and determined that multiple storage lockers in the same block had been burglarized. After further investigation, patrol officers identified the suspect and made an arrest. On 6/24/17, the suspect was arrested and booked into San Mateo County Jail for burglary, grand theft, vandalism, and additional drug and weapon charges.

Since the suspect’s arrest, additional storage lockers have been identified as being burglarized and are believed to be associated. The case was forwarded to the Detective Bureau and additional investigation is being conducted.

Suspicious Vehicle and Recovered Stolen Gun

On 6/24/17 at approximately 2038 hours, a Colma Police officer located a male subject that appeared to be sleeping inside of his vehicle which was parked in the 5000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard. Upon contact, the officer observed drug paraphernalia lying in the center console. Further investigation determined the male was on searchable probation. During a search of the suspect and vehicle, the officer located a loaded firearm and additional drugs. The firearm, a Sig Sauer .40 caliber, was determined to be stolen out of Contra Costa County. The suspect was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for multiple weapons and narcotics violations.

Officer Alvarado completed his summer deployment with the San Mateo County Gang Task Force.

Officer Mendoza participated in one San Mateo County Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) detail.
