The Colma Police Department (CPD) has reported a modest decrease in overall police activity for the month of May 2025, which may indicate a downward trend in criminal incidents throughout the community. During the month of May, CPD officers responded to 1,627 calls for service and generated 124 official police reports. These efforts led to 67 arrests, including 51 misdemeanor arrests and 16 felony arrests. Officers also issued 138 citations for a range of violations including criminal offenses, traffic infractions, and parking violations, in addition to conducting 133 traffic enforcement stops. The department has maintained its proactive approach to public safety into June. From June 1 through June 24, CPD officers have filed 68 reports, made 42 arrests, issued 80 citations, and carried out 138 traffic stops.
On the morning of May 30, a 58-year-old San Francisco resident, Angel Hernandez, was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop on the 700 block of Serramonte Boulevard. At approximately 01:28 am a CPD officer observed a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction and failing to maintain its designated lane. The vehicle, operated by Hernandez, crossed over a double solid yellow line into oncoming traffic, nearly colliding with the officer’s patrol car. The officer promptly executed a U-turn and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. Upon contact, Hernandez exhibited objective signs of intoxication. He was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety test and was subsequently taken into custody for driving under the influence. Hernandez was booked into county jail without incident.
On May 30, CPD officers arrested Maurisha Hudson, a 29-year-old resident of San Francisco, on charges of grand theft, commercial burglary, and resisting arrest following a retail theft incident at a local Target store. At approximately 4:11 PM, Target loss prevention personnel observed Hudson selecting multiple cosmetic items, valued at approximately $1,284.34, and exiting the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise. When loss prevention officers attempted to detain her, Hudson refused to comply and fled the scene on foot. CPD officers arrived promptly and located Hudson walking through the parking lot. Upon making contact, Hudson attempted to flee, prompting a brief foot pursuit through the shopping center. Officers were able to safely apprehend the suspect without further incident. Target loss prevention officers confirmed Hudson as the individual responsible for the theft. All stolen merchandise was recovered. She was transported and booked into county jail for grand theft, commercial burglary, and resisting arrest.
From June 1 through June 14, CPD officers reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to public safety through diligent service and proactive policing across the community. During this two-week period, CPD officers responded to a total of 165 calls for service and initiated 793 proactive incidents. These efforts led to the generation of 31 case reports involving a range of public safety concerns. Notable incidents included arrests and investigations related to outstanding warrants, trespassing, petty theft, possession of stolen property, narcotics for sale, and vandalism.
On June 6, officers from CPD arrested 26-year-old Jamon Butler, a resident of San Francisco, on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sales. At approximately 1:00 PM, a CPD officer observed a vehicle commit multiple violations of the California Vehicle Code in the 100 block of Colma Boulevard, including an illegal U-turn across a double solid yellow line. A traffic enforcement stop was initiated. Upon contact with the driver, identified as Butler, officers noted a strong odor of marijuana and observed a large cloud of smoke emanating from the vehicle’s interior. A subsequent investigation revealed Butler to be in possession of a substantial amount of U.S. currency in various denominations, indicative of narcotics sales activity. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of two plastic bags containing marijuana, with a total weight of approximately 1 pound and 9.3 ounces, along with additional evidence consistent with marijuana sales. Both the narcotics and the currency were seized as evidence. Butler was taken into custody without incident and was issued a citation. This case remains under investigation.
