Crimes Investigated

Vehicle Burglary

During the month of May, there were six (6) reports of vehicles being burglarized.

Stolen Vehicle

During the month of May, there were three (3) reports of vehicles being stolen or embezzled.  There was one (1) stolen vehicle recovered by Colma Police Officers during the month.

Thefts

During the month of May, the Colma Police Department received thirty-four (34) reports of theft related crimes and made twelve (12) arrests ranging from shoplifting, petty theft, grand theft, embezzlement, and identity theft.

Towed Vehicles

During the month of May, there were twenty-one (21) vehicles towed for violations ranging from arrested suspects, expired registration over six months, and abandoned vehicles.

Alcohol/Drugs

During the month of May, patrol officers made a total of twenty-two (22) arrests for drug and alcohol related offenses, which included seven (7) arrests for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Identity Theft/Burglary

On 05/02/19, two male suspects used the victim’s (Vietnam War Veteran) credit cards at a business located at 5001 Junipero Serra Boulevard in in Colma, to purchase and attempt to purchase merchandise items in the amount of $1697.26.  The multiple transactions were captured on surveillance video.  The victims credit cards were found inside the business and in the parking lot, immediately after the transactions were made as the suspects discarded the cards.  Further investigation led to the positive identification of one of the suspects and a request for an arrest warrant has been submitted to the District Attorney’s Office.

Felon in Possession of Firearm/Controlled Substance

On 05/31/19, a Colma Police Officer conducted a vehicle stop on a vehicle exiting the area of 2 Colma Boulevard for a vehicle code violation.  The male driver was found to be driving without a license and had an active warrant for his arrest.   An inventory search of the vehicle revealed that the driver was in possession of suspected Fentanyl, an expandable baton, and a .22 caliber Derringer firearm. The suspect admitted to owning the Fentanyl and the weapon and he was booked into San Mateo County jail on multiple felony charges.

Possession of Controlled Substance for sale/Armed with Firearm

On 05/17/19, Colma Officers observed an unoccupied Acura in the parking lot at 2 Colma Boulevard, that had a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine in plain view on the front seat.  CPD Officers contacted the registered owner of the vehicle as he and a female  were attempting to enter the vehicle.  During a probable cause search of the vehicle, the male suspect was found to be in possession of 154 grams of methamphetamine, 94 grams of heroin, 51 grams of cocaine, 72 oxycodone hydrochloride pills, two functioning scales and a loaded 9mm pistol.  Further investigation revealed that the male suspect was in possession of $6119 dollars in US currency.  The female was cited and released.  The male was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for multiple charges, including possession of narcotics for sale while armed with a firearm.

Officer McKenna participated in the San Mateo County Gang Task Force Phase 1, four-week deployment.
