Colma Community,

I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and safe Holiday Season. I know it will be difficult to celebrate with family and friends this year, but it is important to remember that we need to remain vigilant in stopping the spread of COVID-19.

With the Holidays right around the corner, it is best to avoid traveling and continue to do everything you can to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. If you do plan to travel or meet with friends and family, please take extra precautions by wearing a face covering, keeping at least 6 feet apart, ventilate your space as best as possible, and finally try to limit the time you spend with one another indoors.  For more information please see the enclosed San Mateo County Safety Recommendations for Holiday Travel document.

As you may have heard, due to a rapid rise in cases, Governor Newsom has announced that 40 of the state’s 55 counties are being moved backward in the tiered reopening systems. Unfortunately, this includes San Mateo County, which has been moved back to the “Red” Tier of the Governor’s COVID-19 plan. While I know it is disappointing to take a step back, this is a vital measure to help get the number of cases down, prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed, and save lives. For more information please visit https://covid19.ca.gov/safer-economy/.

As of November 15, 2020, there are 12,465 reported COVID-19 cases with 168 deaths in San Mateo County. In Colma, there are 67 positive cases. The county is sharing data daily on the cases, which can be found at https://www.smchealth.org/coronavirus-health-data. Visit San Mateo County’s All Together Better website at http://www.smcalltogetherbetter.org/ to explore local data on a broad range of topics, such as demographic information, health outcomes and important resources in our County.

Lastly, please remember the Town of Colma is here for you. We have set up a dedicated website, www.colma.ca.gov/covid-19/ which is updated often with new information and resources. If you need assistance for getting food, picking up of medications or general household supplies, or just need assistance with bringing your trash and recycle containers to the curb, please let us know.  We can be reached at (650) 997-8300.

Sincerely,

John Irish Goodwin, Mayor

Town of Colma
