How can I verify that my property is in the Town of Colma?

Unfortunately, the Town of Colma’s boundaries do not coincide with post office mailing areas. This creates a lot of confusion about who a property owner should contact about a problem or in securing a building permit.  Here is a description of these anomalies:

  • There is an area around and including the Colma BART station that is in unincorporated San Mateo County which has a Colma mailing address.  This area includes A Street, Trestle Glen Housing, La Terraza, La Scala Townhomes, Reiner Street, and portions of Hillside Boulevard north of Hoffman Street. For properties in this area, Police service is provided by the Broadmoor Police Department and building permits can be obtained at the County offices in Redwood City.
  •  Broadmoor is an area west of Highway 280 completely surrounded by the City of Daly City that has historically been known as “unincorporated Colma.” For properties in this area, Police service is provided by the Broadmoor Police Department and building permits can be obtained at the County offices in Redwood City.
  •  Mission Road from its intersection with the El Camino Real extending south to Lawndale Boulevard has a South San Francisco mailing address. All of the homes and businesses along this corridor are in the Town of Colma.

Please contact the Planning Department at (650) 757-8888 for property specific zoning information and to verify that your property is located in the Town. You can also look at the Town’s boundary map.
