CITY MANAGER’S UPDATE

Bill Norton, Interim City Manager

As many have heard, Sean Rabé, accepted the Town Manager position with Loomis. I was happy to accept the position of Interim City Manager for the second time. Council appointed me at the June 28th City Council meeting. Once again, the City Council and staff have been very welcoming and helpful as I get acquainted with the changes since my last post in 2013.

During my time here, I will ensure that all projects and day to day operations are still running as expected. A primary focus will be to ensure a smooth recruitment process and transition for the new City Manager.

In the meantime, several new businesses are still on track to open up in Colma in the coming months. Black Bear Diner is expected to open for business in late September. CarMax is under construction and expects to open sometime in 2018. Tuesday Morning and Orangetheory Fitness are coming to 280 Metro very soon.

On the Recreation side, don’t forget about the Summer Concert Series that will be held every Thursday for the month of August! There is more information inside the LiveWire calendar and a flyer as well.

It’s a pleasure to be back in Town, and I am looking forward to working hard with City Council, staff and residents to make sure it stays great to be alive in Colma!

RECREATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT UPDATE

Brian Dossey, Administrative Services Director

We are excited to bring back our annual outdoor summer concert series!  On four Thursdays in August (3, 10, 17 & 24) we will gather in the grass area at the Colma Community Center, located at 1520 Hillside Blvd. from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.  Bring your lawn chair, picnic basket and dancing shoes and enjoy a night of music with your friends and neighbors.  For more information on the musical lineup, please visit the Town’s website at www.colma.ca.gov and check out the Events tab.

Colma Families — Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 9, 2017, when the Town of Colma will celebrate this year’s Town Picnic at Sterling Park Recreation Center, 427 F Street.  This year’s theme “Mardi Gras” will include a live Voodoo Zydeco band, carnival games, fortune teller, face painter, caricaturist, Bingo and prizes, and much more. This year’s picnic will start at 11:00am and end at 3:00pm.  There is no cost for this annual community event, so pack up the kids, and stop by and celebrate the end of summer with your neighbors! This year, in order to ensure there is enough food for everyone, we will be handing out lunch tickets upon arrival to the Picnic, so please remember to R.S.V.P. and check in when you arrive.    Please remember you must have a current Town of Colma I.D. to participate in the Town Picnic and to R.S.V.P. at (650) 985-5678 or (650) 991-3213 before September 5, 2017.

For fall and holiday programs please watch for the September – December 2017 Recreation Guide due out in mid-August.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact Brian Dossey at 650-985-5690 or brian.dossey@colma.ca.gov
