Crimes Investigated

Vehicle Burglary

During the month of October, there was one (1) report of a vehicle being burglarized.

Thefts

During the month of October, the Colma Police Department received thirty-two (32) reports of theft related crimes and made thirteen (13) arrests ranging from petty theft, grand theft, and shoplifting.

Stolen Vehicle

During the month of October, no vehicles were reported stolen, and four (4) stolen vehicles were recovered.

Alcohol/Drugs

During the month of October, patrol officers made a total of seventeen (17) arrests for drug and alcohol related charges. No arrests for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol were reported.

Elder Abuse/Attempted Manslaughter

On 10/22/18 Colma Police Officers responded to the 200 block of Collins Avenue on a report of Elder Abuse.  The investigation revealed that on 10/19/18 a 45-year-old caretaker attempted to suffocate an 87-year-old patient via a pillow over her face in the early morning hours.  On 10/23/18, Colma Detectives took the suspect into custody and later obtained a full confession for the crimes.  The suspect was transported to the San Mateo County Jail.

Attempted Theft/Vehicle Pursuit

On 10/21/18 at approximately 7:30 pm, two male suspects were observed on the 100 block of Colma Blvd. entering a Chevrolet vehicle.  A Colma Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle for vehicle code violations as the suspects fled from the area heading north bound.  The pursuit was cancelled due to concerns for public safety, as the vehicle was driving recklessly at speeds in excess of 90 mph.  Further investigation revealed that the suspects had attempted to steal $500.00  worth of merchandise from the business on Colma Blvd.

Strong Arm Robbery

On 10/30/18, at approximately 9:05 pm, Colma Police Officers responded to the parking lot at the 5000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard on a report of a strong-arm robbery that had just occurred. When officers arrived, the suspects had already fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers learned that one of the suspects had exited a vehicle and approached the female victim from behind.  The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse from her shoulder and forcefully pulled the purse away from the victim.  The suspect ran to the waiting vehicle which fled from the parking lot. Additional investigation is still being conducted on this case.

County-Wide Efforts

Officer Guerrero participated in one San Mateo County Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) detail.

Officer McKenna participated in the San Mateo County Gang Task Force one-week deployment.
