City Manager’s Update
Daniel Barros, City Manager
The Town would like to remind residents of upcoming parking changes that will affect residential neighborhoods around Town. In effort to comply with Assembly Bill 413, referred to as the Daylighting Law, Public Works will begin painting curbs red where AB 413 applies. California’s new Daylighting Law now requires that no parking zones be established at marked or unmarked street crossings. The purpose of the Daylighting law is to allow pedestrians crossing the street a clear line of sight to oncoming traffic. Daylighting also allows drivers of vehicles to view pedestrians entering crosswalks so they can yield to the individuals wanting to cross the street.
Painting of the No Park zones will be completed the week of August 4, 2025, and enforcement will begin once the No Park Zone (Red Curb) is established. For more information on AB 413 and how it will be impact Colma, please visit https://www.colma.ca.gov/ab413-daylighting-law/.
Next up is National Night Out. You’re invited to the Serra Shopping Center on Tuesday, August 5th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM for an annual community-building campaign to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement in a positive environment and celebrate our community together. Colma Police, Colma Fire Protection District, CHP, AMR Ambulance Services, food vendors, local community groups and local businesses, and fun activities for the kids will all be there!
Following National Night Out, the Recreation Services Department will be hosting the summer concerts series at the Colma Community Center beginning on Thursday August 7th. We have a great lineup of bands this year you do not want to miss. For more information, please check our Events page at https://www.colma.ca.gov/events/.
