Town of Colma Police Department Polices and Training Material
The Town of Colma Police Department has policies and training materials that provide a guide for its employees to serve our community in compliance with our motto, “Excellence is our Standard”. Policies are based on policing best practices, current legal standards and community safety needs. The Town of Colma Police Department strives to achieve the upmost transparency in providing public safety services to the community.
Colma Police Officer’s start their career’s off attending a Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certified Basic Police Academy. Many of our Officer’s have attended various academies throughout the state but generally we will send a new recruit through the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium for their Basic Certification.
Following the Police Academy our Police Officer’s will start their Field Training Program which is taught by POST Certified Colma Police Field Training Officers.
Once an Officer has completed their field training program they will be placed onto a patrol shift and required to continue their training through quarterly, annual, and biennial POST and Department mandated trainings. Most of the training our Officers, Dispatchers, and Community Service Officers attend is provided through POST. In compliance with SB-978, POST has made available through their website all presenter course content, unless the material falls within an applicable exemption under the Public Records Act.
